Chlamydia test kits in party bags

Home pregnancy tests are easy to come by.  Apparently, home Chlamydia tests are also fairly easy to come by as well.  Just ask Andrea McLafferty, mother of Danny McLafferty, who happened upon quite a few Chlamydia test kits for her son’s 18th birthday party.

These days it is a normal occurrence to hand out goodie bags to all of the party goers as they’re leaving, ensuring nobody leaves empty handed.  Andrea placed the home Chlamydia test kits into goodie bags along with condoms and pregnancy tests as well.

Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases with a reported 1 out of 10 people, under the age of 25, having been infected.  With the home Chlamydia test kits, it’s possible to send in urine samples to a lab and have the results sent back to the person via telephone, text, or post, making it very convenient and somewhat private.

According to Danny, he knows of quite a few of his friends that would normally have not been tested but thanks to his mother, they used the test kits from his birthday party and sent them into the lab to get their results back.  Since Chlamydia does not always present symptoms, many times young kids would not go to a clinic due to them thinking there was nothing wrong with them.  All of Danny’s friends at the party agreed that it was a great idea for his mother to have put those kits into the goodie bags.  Danny’s parents also agreed.  When the packages were unwrapped, they even so much as cheered with joy at the notion, agreeing that it could help to promote safe sex and make the teens become more aware of sexually transmitted diseases.

Andrea called a few Chlamydia Screening Programmes where she picked up the free tests along with the condoms, bags, and pens that advertised the services.
