The proposed plan integrates sexual education in the curriculum for students as young as nursery. Fuelling the fire is the content of said program, which offers what some parents believe to be inappropriate information to children simply too young for the topic.

A rise in the occurrence of the neck and head cancers related to the human papilloma virus has health professionals concerned. The correlation of the two ailments is assumed to be caused by oral sex. The rise is so significant that researchers at Duke University reported that 1in 3 cases of head and neck cancers are related to HPV.

Just a few days ago, a Jerusalem District Court judge sentenced an Arab man to jail time for a highly unusual crime. His wrongdoing was having consensual sex with a Jewish woman. This is because she claimed that she only had sex with him after he lied to her about his ethnicity. She says she was duped into the act and filed a rape charge against the Arab man.

England, Northern Ireland and Wales’s HIV infection rate for people over the age of 50 has more than doubled within the past decade. The 299 cases of HIV infection back in 2000 has raised to 710 in 2007 and these figures do not look like slowing down. Surprisingly, this number has increased faster than those in the younger age group.

Many of Africa’s nations are raising the bar higher in the fight to prevent AIDS and HIV in their countries. In a study by UNAIDS this year, it is speculated that sixteen of the most plagued countries should hit the 25% HIV reduction mark by the end of this year. The nations that have already achieved this goal (The Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia) are set to be joined by The Bahamas, Lesotho, Swaziland, Burundi, Rwanda, and Haiti by the end of 2010. This is welcome news to a people struggling to fight decades of the disease and its further spread.
