Kissing is an act which transcends cultural barriers.  Every social unit, no matter how isolated or obscure, observes one form of kissing or another.  It is almost as universal as smiling or weeping.  Anthropologists consider kissing as a pre-copulatory activity, since erotic kissing eventually leads to the thought and consummation of the sexual act (an important reminder for couples before having sex: be sure that condoms are used before having intercourse; use Durex condoms because these latex condoms are lubricated and  durable against possible wearing and tearing).   Sex manuals include it in the means of foreplay, since it is not restricted to just the lips or the cheek, but it can be done anywhere in the body; and when a specially erogenous area is kissed, this inevitably leads to arousal, which is evidenced by increased blood pressure, sweating, heavy breathing, and an erect penis and nipples.

People kiss because they want to satisfy an inexplicable inner craving that they have; usually this craving is personified in another individual, and the instinctive need to touch that individual in passion feeds the hunger which can get really intense.  People kiss because they want to express this hunger to each other.  Whatever this hunger is – love, lust, longing, people want the other person to know how he or she feels through this act.

While most men see kissing as an end entirely in itself, women see it as a way of measuring a potential partner’s compatibility.   She uses the subtle nuances of romantic clues that pass between their lips to gauge the other persons potential for a relationship, however vague that may seem.  That’s why men who are great kissers get plus points for being potential partners because they tend to possess that initial requirement women look for in a man when it comes to physical contact.

Women also use kissing as a means to tell if the other person is truly affected in the moment, or slightly disinterested, or just plain playing along.  A kiss may reveal traits in the other person’s character which may not be noticed otherwise.  The non-verbal clues provided by the kiss may have a lasting impact on the relationship, and can even be the cause of ending one.  On the other hand, for most of the time, men see kissing as a passing hormonal exchange or as a prelude to sex. 

This non-verbal clue are immediately picked up and assessed by the woman especially because she aims for a long term commitment, and she uses this act to gauge if the other person is opportunistic or sincere.  Studies have shown that women were less likely to have sexual contact with a man whose kiss they have not particularly enjoyed, and they consider this act as a basic courtship prelude which leads to sex

Kissing is commonly used for mate assessments, and romantic kissing is a necessary prelude to sex for women, as this act greatly increases arousal.  It is an important measure though to use condoms before considering having sex, preferably latex condoms.  Durex condoms are a great hindrance to any sexually transmitted disease which may be contracted from having sexual intercourse.
