Celebrity Big Brother, a reality series on channel 4, had already seen a small amount of drama before the show aired.  Apparently two of the contestants had packed condoms in their bags, in preparation for “getting lucky” while spending their time in the Big Brother household with other housemates.

Oddly enough, this most recent airing of Celebrity Big Brother was supposed to be built around a theme from Dante’s Inferno which includes the house having no spaces available for the housemates to have private quarters.  No solitude, no privacy.  Bringing a bunch of condoms into a house with no privacy seems like a waste of time.  The contestants bags are always searched prior to them being able to enter the house and two of their contents were found to have the condoms.  Other contraband that would be detrimental to the production of the show is normally removed however the condoms were left in place and are now within the house in some unknown contestant’s bags.

Of course, if someone were to get lucky during the filming then it would probably increase the show’s ratings which are most likely why the condoms were allowed to enter the house in the first place.  Not to mention I am sure the producers would want to promote the use of safe sex practices rather than have to explain to the media why someone was not allowed to bring their condoms with them.

Some speculation has pointed to Dane Bowers and Basshunter as the culprits that carried in the contraceptives but it truly may remain a mystery until the end of the show, if it ever comes to light at all.

Whoever brought them in, good for them.  The media might be making a joke out of it but safe sex and proper condom use is no laughing matter.
